Executive Vice President
The Executive Vice President race was won by Patricia Gilbert with 59% of the vote. Congratulations, Trish!
NATCA’s Executive Vice President shares many of the job functions as the President, while also having some specific tasks set out in the NATCA Constitution:
Section 5. The Executive Vice President shall preside at any Convention or meeting from which the President is absent, and in the case of a vacancy in the office of President, the Executive Vice President shall succeed to the Presidency until the next regular election.
The Executive Vice President shall be responsible for keeping the minutes of all National Executive Board meetings and for the maintenance and protection of all records, books, papers and contracts, including financial reports, of the Association, and shall receive, hold and keep a proper account of all monies of the Association, pay all legitimate bills, and render annual financial reports to the National Executive Board.
The EVP and the President typically must work closely together to be sure that NATCA’s mission is carried out. Each of NATCA’s duos have, in the past, shared many duties, but typically they’ll split them up in ways that play to each person’s stengths and weaknesses. If you go strictly by the Constitution, the EVP is more of the “details” person, while the President needs to be out front leading.
This year’s EVP race sees two challengers for the office in Patricia Gilbert and Rich Santa. The incumbent, Paul Rindaldi, is running for President.
The EVP is officially on LWOP (Leave Without Pay) from the FAA, and the President’s salary and benefits are set and paid for by the union (generally by the National Convention body).
