Upon beginning my career in 1991, I was immediately drawn to representing the hard-working men and women at IAD. I was elected as vice president of the facility’s local in 1995 and then a year later became the Facility Representative. In 2003, I accepted the challenge to represent the entire Eastern Region and agreed to serve as the region’s alternate vice president.
I was elected as NATCA’s sixth executive vice president and began serving my three-year term in September 2006 after working the previous 15 years as an air traffic controller at Washington Dulles Air Traffic Control Tower (IAD).
As your Executive Vice President, I have fought every day to correct the injustices of the imposed work rules (IWR). I have preached about union busting and the FAA’s goal to divide our union. I have put out extensive weekly updates communicating all the activities of the National office and have restored fiscal responsibility to our organization. Additionally, I have been instrumental in creating a cohesive team at our national office.
I have spent my entire FAA career working tirelessly on behalf of union members. My leadership as IAD Facility Representative resulted in 100% of the bargaining unit members becoming dues-paying NATCA members. I was asked, on two occasions, to serve as a member of NATCA’s National Contract Team.
I also served the union as an Eastern Region Third Level Grievance Team member, a trained arbitration advocate since 2000 and an air safety investigator from 1997 to 2006. In addition I had many responsibilities in the opening of the Potomac Consolidated Terminal Radar Approach Control facility, which brought control of the terminal airspace for the entire Washington, D.C. area together under one roof.
Enjoying unprecedented success with winning grievances on behalf of NATCA members both locally and regionally, I have negotiated countless agreements with the agency on a variety of issues, all resulting in a better quality of life for the membership.
Nationally, I have extensive Congressional and media experience and am an outspoken advocate for air traffic controllers on the national stage.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Debra. We are the proud parents of sons Anthony and Nicholas and daughter Olivia. We are a NATCA family.
